If you've found yourself anywhere around Bronson Park recently, then you've noticed the demolition of the First Church of Christ Scientist. Built in 1913, this 106-year-old building has housed many different congregations over the years, including it's most recent incarnation as Firm Foundation Ministries. Unfortunately, this historic neoclassical building has been sitting empty and unused since the KIA purchased the property in 2006. Finally, though, a decision has been made to turn the land on which it sits in to a green space for the community to enjoy. Demolition got underway in mid-July. There is no word if any of the stained glass or dome will be preserved, repurposed, or added to a historical collection for display. There is also no word, yet, on when the demolition will wrap up and work will begin on creating the green space.
