The XFL is set to announce the inaugural teams when the league relaunches in 2020. From all the rumors that have leaked online, if you're hoping for a team in the Great Lakes region, say Detroit or Chicago, don't count on it.

The consensus of reports say these will be the XFL cities:

  • Los Angeles
  • Seattle
  • Dallas
  • Houston
  • St Louis
  • Tampa
  • Washington DC
  • New York

It's an interesting list of cities, with the exception of St Louis, all of the cities already host an NFL team. No Oakland, the city losing the Raiders, or San Diego, who recently lost the Chargers. None of the "usual suspects" cities that have seen teams in leagues like the USFL, CFL or World League like San Antonio, Birmingham, Sacramento, Memphis or Shreveport.

The league, again with the exception of St Louis, is disregarding the entire Midwest/Great Lakes region if the projections hold true that no city like Detroit, Chicago or Cleveland would not host an XFL team. Just ask fans in Detroit or Cleveland, they'd love to have professional football back in their city.

From the XFL's YouTube channel, this is how they envision the experience of the league:
