Like most kids in the eighties, I was a big wrestling fan.  Hulk Hogan was one of the biggest names ,but there was also one of the best bad guys ever, The Iron Sheik.  I recently watched a great documentary on him on Netflix called, "The Sheik".

I was a big fan of his back in his prime.  He was the ultimate bad guy, hated pretty much everywhere he went.   He was known as the guy who passed the torch to Hulk Hogan.  He was also a member of one of the all time great tag teams with Nikolai Volkoff.

I knew many details of the wrestling side of his career, though I didn't know much about his life outside the ring.   The documentary, "The Sheik" is his story.  They talk about his life and how he eventually came to the United States from Iran.

The early part of his story about his time wrestling in Iran and his job as a body guard for the Shah was something I didn't know much about.  They go into many details of his career and show his relationship with his family.  There is a big tragedy that eventually leads him down a dark path.

Being a fan of his, It was great to see the personal side of his life.  This documentary also featured interviews with many of his fellow wrestlers.  The Rock, Jake Roberts, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Mick Foley, just a few of the names who talk about their experiences with The Sheik.

The Sheik has become a big celebrity on social media and they go into that story as well.  If your a wrestling fan or loved wrestling in the eighties, you should check out this film. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
