This history professor may be history. A Ferris State University instructor is on administrative leave after swearing at students in a YouTube video.

By the time they get to college, students are no longer "kids," but some think they still may not be ready for adult language. Ferris State University in Big Rapids has suspended tenured professor Barry Mehler pending an investigation. In a profanity-laden video designed to be an introduction to his class, Professor Mehler drops the f-bomb many times and spews many other words not for use in mixed company.

You'll be shocked in just 43 seconds as the first three f-bombs come in quick succession. Professor Mehler is wearing a helmet at the beginning of the video and says he will be wearing it in class. The mood is combative right from the start.

I may have [effed] up my life flatter than hammered sh!t, but I stand before you today, beholden to no human [redacted] and working a paying f'n union job and no [redacted] of an administrator is going to tell me how to teach my classes because I am a f-ing tenured professor. So, if you want to go complain to your Dean, go ahead, I'm retiring at the end of this year and I couldn't give a flying [redacted] any longer.

-Professor Barry Mehler, Ferris State University

About halfway in, Professor Mehler finally gets on point, addressing student concerns like "how the [eff] am I  going to get out of this course alive," and "how does this a-hole professor grade?" Believe it or not, things get stranger from there with an in-depth look at Calvinism, predestination, and damnation.

University officials were not pleased when parents became outraged. Ferris State University President David Eisler told 13 on Your Side, "I was shocked and appalled by this video. It is profane, offensive, and disturbing and in no way reflects our University or its values." Professor Mehler has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

WARNING: There is A TON of profanity in this video.
