Historic Kalamazoo State Theatre Is Now Offering Tours

Go behind the scenes, behind the curtain, backstage and take an inside look at this Kalamazoo landmark.

Designed in 1927 to create the feel of a Spanish garden, there's almost nothing like the Kalamazoo State Theatre. In the early days, frequent shows were "opera, dramas, big bands, ballet, dance reviews, stage shows and movies." Over the past few decades, the stage has seen an incredibly diverse lineup of musicians, from Allison Krauss to Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath to Britney Spears, Buddy Guy, Bullet Boys and the Butthole Surfers. Marilyn Manson and Mary Chapin Carpenter and Megadeth have used the dressing rooms. Now, for the first time ever, you can get a guided tour and go behind the curtain, behind the scenes, backstage and learn about the incredible history.

Walk through our Vaudeville Theatre’s history in our extended tour and go backstage in your home with the stars. You will learn about our atmospheric sky, architecture, organ and pipes, lightboard, marquee, renovation history, and more! And of course, see the dressing rooms and stand on stage, in the footsteps of every act who has performed at the Kalamazoo State Theatre!
