It Wasn’t Opening Day But It Felt Like Opening Day In Detroit
Someday I hope to make it to an opening day in Detroit. This year I made it to Saturday's second home game against the Boston Red Sox. The park was pretty packed as many were trying to get their hands on the trapper hats that were given away to the first 10,000 fans.
My wife and I were lucky enough to get our hands on two. Eventually my wife gave her's to a fan behind us who missed out and wanted to hook up his wife. Tigers legend Al Kaline was also hanging out as part of a Q and A before the game.
It had that feeling even though it was game 2. There was also some interesting events that happened that you normally don't see at a regular baseball game.
I have never experienced drunk fans entering the field I was lucky enough to experience not one but two idiots run on the field. One was lucky he didn't get taken down by Ian Kinsler.
We were in the bleachers and were lucky enough to have this guy, who was clearly wasted puke all over the place. One fan got the ushers to try to get him help eventually they got him to leave. He almost fell down the stairs if it wasn't for me standing behind him when he left. He had a few friends with him, who after he puked left him there.
These events to go along with the game which the Tigers won 4-1. I hope to make it to a few more games this season hopefully it will be less eventful in the stands.
