Ohio's 'Joe The Plumber' Dead At 49 From Pancreatic Cancer

A man who was thrust into the political spotlight, and has since become a generic term for the common workingman has passed away. Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacker

Has died at the age of 49 after a long-term battle with pancreatic cancer, WXYZ reported.

So often during political runs, you will hear candidates referring to 'Joe the Plumber,' when talking about the every day working class Man, which was a direct reference to Joe, who, during the 2008 presidential campaign question Barack Obama about his economic policies, which would put him into the conservative spotlight.

As his surviving son said, he’s no longer worried about his father:

The only thing I have to say is that he was a true patriot. His big thing is that everyone comes to God. That’s what he taught me, and that’s a message I hope is heard by a lot of people.

At one point he even tried to make a run for a seat representing Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives, but lost. He was also a controversial figure as well, publicly stating he wanted border patrol to "start shooting" immigrants suspected of entering the country illegally.

At the end of his life, he was a citizen of Wisconsin, who leaves behind a wife and four children.

Joe was also an author who released a book called "Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream."
