There seems to be an altercation involving a Black teenager who was taking out his trash in the Lansing area. While taking out the trash, Lansing police allegedly approached the child, and in what may be a case of mistaken identity, handcuffed the teen and was questioning him. When the child's father arrived on the scene after he had handcuffs placed on him, he was placed in the back of the squad car.

The father was visibly upset at the officers who he invited to explain to him why they handcuffed his son, after they un-cuffed him. The community is reacting to the video which has been published on tiktok:

Many people are claiming the way the officers handled the situation is illegal:

Aren't they questioning him without a lawyer or his parents present?

Others are concerned for the mental well being of the child who went through this:

My God.. how traumatic for this young boy. The world we live in sucks!! I would be livid but the father must stay calm before they get him too. smdh

Others are also encouraging the young man and parents to hold the department responsible:

Please tell him he needs badge number for everyone one of them. They shouldn’t be talking to him without his parent present. Make a report

We will have to update on the situation as more about the incident becomes clearer in the next 24 hours, but hopefully the family handling the situation within their legal rights.
