This week on Live in Concert, we've got one from America's Bicentennial year: 1976. The classic lineup of Lynyrd Skynyrd live from Atlanta, GA.

Inexplicably, they were never profiled on Behind the Music. Lynyrd Skynyrd is a band that has had more than its share of adversity, but has persevered and is still spreading the gospel of southern rock. This week on Live in Concert, you'll hear the classic lineup recorded in 1976 on the Gimme Back My Bullets tour. All their signature songs are on the setlist: "Sweet Home Alabama," "Simple Man," "Gimme Three Steps," and be sure to stick around for the encore: a 13-minute version of "Free Bird"- nobody is leaving until they play that song. Lynyrd Skynyrd was known for their epic live shows and this was no exception. Hear a legendary performance captured at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, on July 7th, 1976.

More epic songs this week, famous for their live renditions include "Do You Feel Like We Do" from Peter Frampton, recorded at a 1999 show just down the road at DTE Energy Music Theatre. (Don't worry, we still call it Pine Knob too.) Kansas' searching "Carry On Wayward Son" is a highlight taken from a 2009 show in (where else?) Kansas. John Mellencamp rounds out the lineup this week with his odes to America, "Small Town" and "Pink Houses."

We're hoping we can all get back in the theatres, stadiums, arenas, clubs and concert halls for live shows in 2021. In the meantime, listen to Live in Concert every Saturday night at 8, exclusively on Kalamazoo's Rock Station 107.7 RKR.
