Detroit's Jason Hall enjoyed craft beer, great cuisine, word-class guitars and kayaking on a day trip to Kalamazoo that was pure Michigan. There are the things Kalamazoo is famous for and we have a new fan in Jason Hall. Jason created Slow Roll Detroit, a neighborhood bicycle ride through the Motor City- one of the largest weekly rides in the world. These days, he is moving through the state of Michigan, visiting different locales on behalf of Pure Michigan, the tourist engine for the Great Lakes State.

Tim Allen may be the more famous spokesperson for the Mitten State buy it looks like Jason Hall is having a good time. He paddled up to Arcadia Ales in a borrowed kayak from Lee's Adventure sports and talked craft beer with Tim Surprise. Heritage Guitars' Ron Howard would not let Jason play rock star and smash a guitar, but did show him how they handcraft some of the best in the business. Then, it was time for lunch and a visit to the kitchen at Shakespeare's Pub and an after-dinner cocktail at The Stamped Robin.

Coming in, Jason thought Kalamazoo was a typical college town but was pleasantly surprised to find "people there rooted in community and caring and bringing culture to Kalamazoo." He promises to be back soon.
