All over the country and world, we have seen an uptick in gun violence and homicide related to that gun violence. We are too often as a society screaming "R.I.P" to our loved ones who have lost their lives at the hands of guns. There have been many calls to action and discussions on how to make out lives safer when guns are being used so often but nothing has helped so far.

We are used to seeing grieving mothers and fathers trying to make sense of the senseless violence that is taking place around them. Most of the time the families are not prepared to lose their loved one, so on top of the mental, physical, and emotional pain their in, they have to figure out how they will pay for funeral services. In the wake of all of this, we have seen many fundraisers organized to help with these unforeseen circumstances.

The City of Battle Creek has experienced multiple heartbreaks within months of each other as their young teens continue to die at the hands of gun violence. They have called for safety throughout the city, encouraging many teens to find safer alternatives, and are concerned for everyone moving forward. After yet another slaying in the city and another mourning family, a salon has decided to step up and help.

Tiff-Tastic's Salon and Spa in Battle Creek is tired of seeing all the senseless violence going on and wants to alleviate some of the hurt that this family is going through. After hearing of the deathly shooting of Bobby Sims, the salon organized a bake sale, pop can/bottle drive and will accept other monetary donations to offset the funeral arrangement costs.

The bake sale and collection of donations whether they be monetary or by way of pop cans/bottles will be on Saturday, June 24th at Tiff-Tastic's Salon and Spa at 1778 West Columbia Street in Downtown Battle Creek. All money will be taken directly to the funeral home to pay for the services.

Reach out to Tiff-Tastic's Salon and Spa if you have any questions or concerns.
