Another use of a downtown Battle Creek building getting renovated is getting set up.

For the past year, Restore (269) has been working to fix up the building at 15 Carlyle St. on the Battle Creek River; the building, which is now called the Record Box, will feature a local brewery on the first floor, office space on the second, and a multipurpose event space on the third. Now, the third floor has a name, The Record Box Loft, and they’re already booking the Loft for 2020 and 2021. It appears they look to rent the space out primarily for weddings, with listings on multiple wedding venue sites.

The Record Box is looking to open for business in the fall of this year, in the space that was originally built over 100 years ago to build cereal cartons.

An announcement was made on 95.3 WBCK in June, that the brewery in the Record Box will be Handmap Brewing; founders Chris McCleary and Jennifer Brown say they are excited to return to their hometown and share their passion for beer.
