Bob Saget. Funny man. TV dad. Original host of America's Funniest Home Videos. Sometimes this comic needs to get serious, and there's no subject he's more steadfast in supporting than the Scleroderma Research Foundation. Scleroderma is a rare disease that tightens skin and connective tissues. In mild cases, scleroderma sufferers experience aching joints and poor circulation. In severe cases, though, the disease can affect internal organs and lead to death. Over the last 30 years Saget and his group of amazingly talented friends have raised over $45 million for the Scleroderma Research Foundation with their annual fundraiser. And COVID is not going to get in the way of him hosting another event this year. 2020's fundraiser is going virtual.

I got the chance to sit down with Bob Saget to talk about the disease, and Sunday's upcoming fundraiser, Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine. "I lost my sister in 1994 to a disease called scleroderma and it means "hardening of the skin". Sometimes, in my sister's case it can go internal and your lungs can just give. Not unlike with COVID-19. Pulmonary hypertension. You can die from your lungs hardening and failing."

COVID is not stopping the fundraising train. Saget has a cast of characters ready to perform. "It's amazing what we're doing. I'm doing it live with Susan Feniger, the top chef of Too Hot Tamales who's been involved from the very beginning.

"We have three amazing music acts; Kelly Clarkson she did an amazing thing for us, John Mayer who also signed a guitar that's in our auction, and also Pat Monahan from Train. It's just beautiful. I'm very lucky that I have friends. Jason Alexander is going to be on. He lost a step sister to scleroderma. Jack Black will be on. Reggie Brown. Bill Burr, who is going to really tear at me because that's what he does. Jim Gaffigan, Jeff Garlin, Nikki Glaser, Regina Hall who's mother has scleroderma and is well now," Saget stated, hopefully.

"Joel McHale," he continued. "We have an auction item where he and I will drink tequila shots and get drunk with someone on Zoom.

"Ray Romano, Jeff Ross, Sarah Silverman, John Stamos - who is last on this bill, and he's amazing." Stamos is offering two auction items, one of which, Saget gushes, "He's going to read story time to little kids.

"It's a wonderful event."

Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine kicks off at 8:00 EDT. Use promo code "BOB" to get a ticket for only $50. Where else are you going to see so many acts come together for that price, amiright? Plus, it's for a great cause, so you can feel great about giving a little so people living with scleroderma will have a lot.
