It doesn’t matter how old you are, you are never too old to play board games. The love of board games is something I don’t think will ever go away, and this summer Kalamazoo will be celebrating board games in their very own unique way.

The 40th annual Do-Dah Parade will take place in downtown Kalamazoo on Saturday, June 8, 2024. This year’s theme is going to be Board-Amazoo, rolling the dice of 40 years. As the event page describes this year, they will be celebrating all things board game-related during their annual Pride weekend event.

It’s a spoof or imitating something funny or taking what you do as a business and turning it into something people can laugh about. Embracing the world of board games opens the door to endless possibilities for companies to choose their favorite game and relive its joyous moments.
Do- Dah Parade begins Saturday, June 8 at 11 o’clock and applications can be submitted here if you’re interested in being a part of the parade. The Midwest has always been a popular area for board games, as the creator of one of the most popular board games of all time, Monopoly (before it was stolen by Parker Bros.) was created by a woman, Lizzie Magie who was from McComb Illinois. She was eventually given credit.
Unfortunately, Michigan never adopted a euchre board game, but we can still celebrate, nevertheless. Personally, I'm slowly becoming the master of Parcheesi, so if anyone wants to take me on, or maybe throw down on a Parcheesi float, let's do it. Let the games begin, Kalamazoo.
