Festivus Cardboard Sled Competition In Battle Creek This Weekend
Every year people get together to have a blast barrelling down the hill at Leila Arboretum off Michigan Ave W. in Battle Creek for The Festivus Cardboard Sled Competition. The event returns in 2023 this weekend February 11th from Noon until 3 p.m. and is shaping up to be another fun event. The sleds are held to only one rule: Sleds can ONLY be made from cardboard, adhesive, paint, and decorations.
That being said, people get seriously creative with these sleds, as one video showing some of the creations from last year's event including The Batmobile, Emergency Vehicle, Thomas The Train, and even a take on Pink Floyd's Animals album:
The Festivus 2022 Cardboard Sled Competition was presented by the Battle Creek Metropolitain Area Mustache Society (BCMAMS) at the Leila Arboretum this past weekend. The event was held on Saturday, February 12th, and people from all over the region came out to compete with their own custom-made cardboard sleds. The event was a lot of fun, and a big salute to the organizers of this fabulous seasonal event!
It's great we have a site like YouTube to check out these events before heading out to know what to expect, as many people shared their love for the event re-cap from last year:
That was a wonderfully wholesome video. I really enjoyed watching the people and their creativity in the designs and construction of their sleds. This...Michael..will be in Battle Creek history books in the future. Thanks for a great time.
