One of the stars of the Cubs pitching staff in the  2000's, Carlos Zambrano is attempting a comeback with an independent team in Chicago.

According to the story from the Chicago Sun Times, Zambrano will pitch again with the independent Chicago Dogs in Rosemont, Illinois.

Carlos Zambrano pitched for the Cubs from 2001-2011 and also spent a season with the Marlins.

Currently 37, Carlos hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012.   It will be interesting to see if this will lead to anything.  He did pitch in Mexico last year but it wasn't a full on attempt at a comeback.

This year he wants to play and see what happens.  If he has anything left I'm sure some teams may take a look at him.

Good Luck Carlos and we'll see if he can make it back.
