One of the coolest and most terrifying jobs you could have as a Michigander is hiring, and you could have the chance to make some good money doing it. The Mackinac Bridge has an opening for a new Steeplejack, to make anywhere from $20.40 - $31.08 an hour.

When it comes to qualifications, you're gonna want a strong constitution if you plan on applying for this position, because it comes with a lot of high climbs and big vehicles, as they described in their Facebook post:

What Does A Steeplejack Do?

Perform maintenance, repairs and follow all safety regulations over waterways and above 300', sandblasting, painting, washing, greasing, oiling, bolting, caulking, forming, cement work, and inspections of the Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) using various tools, equipment, materials, and specialized knowledge and principles of maintenance trades.

As they continue, the job isn't just for the metal structure of the bridge, but the road that connects the lower and upper peninsulas, and operating big machinery:

Perform concrete repairs on the substructure, deck, curbs, sidewalks, and bituminous surfaces. Perform all related work required on all approaches, buildings, and right of way. Operate a motor vehicle or vehicle/trailer combination with a Gross Weight Rating (GVWR) of more than 26,000 pounds when operating heavy-duty dump trucks, snow plow trucks, water tanker trucks, wind escorting

Is this a job you think you could stomach? I know when you're climbing the bridge, you have a harness that holds you in place, but heights still scare the crap out of me. This is one of those jobs that any Michigander would be proud to have if you can overcome the fear of imminent death.
