Michigan Has To Worry About Snow & Dust Storms To Start Spring
Michigan had a really nice end to the winter season with some strong 70° days that made us feel like maybe for once, spring would start on time. That winter would slowly dissipate and disappear as we transitioned into spring.
Yet here we are on the first day of spring and not only are we having to deal with snow, but we are also having to deal with dust storms that are going to be lowering the air quality in Southwest Michigan.

Over the next week, there will only be one day that will get into the 50s, which is Friday, March 21. Other than that, we are looking at temperatures in the mid-40s to the mid-30s and a lot of rain and possibly light snow.
On top of the snow, we know we also need to watch out for dust that will be moving Into the state, as WWMT‘s Jeff Porter recently reported on Facebook.
This just in ... with your dust forecast! Strange, I know. Dust is moving toward the Mitten from Illinois and far eastern Iowa
The fact is that fugitive dust is not a thing that is uncommon here for us in Michigan, as every year things like stray dust from the Midwest to fires, whose particulate matter makes its way into the skies can affect Michigan’s air quality and add a real serious issue to our air pollution problem.
The best we can do during those days is to mask up and protect ourselves. If you want to learn more about the air pollution issues we face here in Michigan, the state helps break down what our main pollutants are here.
