Coldwater native Dan "The Beast" Severn is to be recognized for his long career in the wrestling ring.

According to The Daily Reporter,  Severn will be inducted into the Michigan Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

He will be recognized for his service to the sport of wrestling.   A great career that has seen Severn hold many championships, titles and records.

It started with back to back state wrestling championships in high school in Montrose, Michigan.  He moved on to a successful college career at Arizona State.

He served as an alternate at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics reaching the finals of the trials for those two games.

Severn at the age of 40 began to compete in The UFC.   "The Beast" was a three time champ and eventually inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

"The Beast" also spent time wrestling in the WWE and was a 2 time NWA Champion.

He currently owns and operates Michigan Sports Camps in Coldwater.   Severn is one of five inductees for the Hall of Fame this year.  The ceremony is set to take place on April 28th in Ann Arbor.  Congratulations to "The Beast" a much deserved honor.
