Pickle Pizza is the Latest Kalamazoo Food Trend. Dill With It
Foodies are always looking for something unique and this is it. Dill pickle pizza is surprisingly wonderful. Here's where to get it in the Kalamazoo area.
The Kalamazoo Menu Facebook group tipped me to a new trend: pickle pizza. I wasn't convinced that it was going to be good, I just knew I had to try it. I don't have a passion for pickles, but I do like them. Cheeseburger soup might be the most unusual place I've tasted pickles until now. Pickle pizza is made not with a traditional red sauce, but with ranch dressing. Add bacon crumbles, top it with dill pickles sliced like pepperoni, and you have a tasty combination.
Pickle Pizza Variations:
- Add some ground beef and make it a cheeseburger pizza
- Add pork and Swiss cheese to make it a Cubano
- Add Shwarma for Middle Eastern flair
Where To Get Pickle Pizza:
- Ned's on Gull Lake
- Louie's Trophy House
- Jaspare's
- Roma's Pizza/Schwarma King
- Jac's
I made the trip to Gull Lake and picked up a pie from Ned's and was not disappointed. The flavor combination of the dill, ranch and bacon was almost indescribable. Some people think pickles belong on everything, while others won't touch 'em. Not everyone agrees on pickle pizza- this might be more divisive than Hawaiian.
