The Pontiac Silverdome has been rarely used since the Lions left in 2002.  It finally looks like it could see demolition soon.

According to Detroit Free Press,  the city of Pontiac and the dome's owner have made a deal on the demolition of the Silverdome but have yet to set a date. They have until June 9th to announce.

In recent years the dome has sat vacant with the roof being damaged.  It  was used when a bmx star used the dome as his personal playground.

The dome will also be seen in the upcoming movie, "Transformers: The Last Knight" which will be released on June 23rd.

I personally only had a couple chances to visit the dome during it's lifetime.   The only Lions game I have had the chance to see live was at the dome back in 2000.  They were blown out by the Miami Dolphins.

The game highlight was when QB Charlie Batch was knocked out of the game and the crowd cheered when backup Stoney Case came in.

Another highlight for me at the Silverdome, was when I saw England and Germany play in the U.S. Cup in soccer in 1993.   That game was the first of a hand full of games that were played there the next year for the World Cup.

Glad I had the chance to at least see a few events there.  I'm curious to see what ends up happening when the dome finally comes down.
