For those of us who grew up in the 'Attitude Era' of professional wrestling, no other faction was as influential to the attitude portion of that than the renegade federation out of Philidelphia, Extreme Championship Wrestling. Arguably the greatest pure athlete in ECW was Battle Creek's own Rob Van Dam, who for some time has been living in California. But the hometown kid is coming home and is actually gonna be wrestling in Kellogg Arena.

The event is called 'Battle In The Creek' and will be held on Saturday, September 30th in Kellogg Arena by the promotion Pure Pro Wrestling, who have been visiting this side of the state in the past year. Rob Van Dam is remembered for not only his WWE run, but also his epic rivalry with Jerry Lynn in ECW, and on April 4, 1998,  when Van Dam defeated Bam Bam Bigelow to win the ECW Television Championship, a title he held for 700 days until he vacated it due to injury.

In 2021 Rob Van Dam was the first of many superstars of the night before Wrestlemania to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

This surprise announcement was teased over the course of a month and in late January, Rob Van Dam himself sent a video making the announcement himself. We have no idea how long he plans on being in town or when the last time he was even in town was, but it'll be good to have him back and see him in action again.
