Why Are People Trying To Get Rid of Food Truck Fridays?
My husband and I start our date night almost every weekend during the summer by checking out Food Truck Fridays at Riverside Park
If you haven't gotten to experience it, I can't recommend it more, especially if you have picky eaters in your household. And, you can all have a picnic after grabbing your meals, which is the most fun part of the experience to me.
There are so many rotating choices of food trucks that show up to serve you a hot meal you can't get inside a brick and mortar restaurant.Plus, you have a chance to check out a few local vendors for fun gift ideas, or something to treat yourself.
But there are some sour sports out there who are trying to ruin this weekly event for the rest of us.
According to a post by the Dune Buggy food truck, it appears there are people who are protesting this event and trying to get it to leave Riverside park.
It's hard to believe as someone who attends this weekly, because I see hundreds of faces every week who seem to enjoy themselves while snacking on some fantastic eats.
Maybe it's the people in the neighborhood surrounding the park who have to deal with people parking on their street during the few hours this event goes on weekly, or maybe it's just some people who hate fun, but either way: they need your help to save this event.
According to those trying to save it, they ask that you do this to help:
Please take a moment to write the Office of Special Events and tell them…
1. Why you love Food Truck Fridays.
2. Why Riverside Park is a great place for it.
3. How food truck Fridays benefit the surrounding community, charities
Etc!
The emails are:

Here's hoping we can save this event that not only gives back to our community by offering a safe opportunity for small business owners to connect with customers, as well as families who use this event as a bonding time.
Grand Rapids feels like it's losing a lot of it's "privileges" lately and this is one that needs to be protected.
