Find Somebody Who Loves You The Way St Joe Loved HI’s at Christmas
Ask anyone from the St. Joe area about the 80s-era restaurant HI's Saloon and you're sure to hear plenty of stories.
HI's was located on State Street in St Joseph, one of the best street scenes in Michigan, and was a favorite of those who lived and visited St Joe and Benton Harbor.
HI's was known for Christmas lights strung throughout the restaurant, a model train that ran through the building and beers served in Mason jars.
Nostalgia for HI's ran high recently on the Benton Harbor, St Joseph Memories Facebook group.
The post about HI's on Facebook received over 400 like and love reactions and over 100 comments fondly remembering HI's:
Spent many, many nights enjoying cocktails under the grand light display and train. Truly memorable in every regard!
Hi's was the best !!!!!! great food and atmosphere there
It was a magical place at Christmas time the decorations were exceptional
The one place I miss the most at Christmas was old HI's Saloon. They had the place decorated for Christmas all throughout the place and always loved the train
I loved HI's. The Monte Cristo was to die for!
I had a lot of good times at H.I.'s! Loved the train and Christmas lights and also they had the best onion rings!!!
I loved that place! Do you remember the dollar hamburger Tuesdays? And the train that used to go all the way around the inside of the saloon? I sure wish that that type of place would be brought back
Lights, the train, friends, family... and Seafood Nachos! Christmas at HI's.
Worked there! Mmmm, the Monte Cristo sandwiches, and beer in canning jars.
Happy memories loved the lights and the train. Haven't found a place that compares...anywhere.
Used to take my kids to see the train at Christmas when they were little. Used to also hang at HI's. Great bar, best whiskey sours.
Hi's WAS a great place
In addition to the restaurant in St Joe, HI's operated another location in Niles.
