Game Over: Pinball at the Zoo Cancelled for 2020
Go ahead and use those quarters for laundry or something. Originally postponed until October, Pinball at the Zoo has been officially canceled for 2020.
When you tilt in pinball, you only lose the ball you are playing. Like the crushing end of a multiball when you lose everything at once, the entire three days of Pinball at the Zoo have been lost for 2020. Usually held every April at Kalamazoo County Expo Center, this year's fest was postponed to October and then cancelled on the Pinball at the Zoo Facebook page on September 4.
We are incredibly sad to announce this and we are sure all of you are just as upset! In more positive news, we have dates for 2021! Mark your calendars for April 15-17, 2021...We miss all of you, but most of all stay safe.
It may seem like a silly hobby and nothing to get upset about, but for many of us, pinball is much more than the score. Ask people you know who are on bowling, pool or dart leagues about their friends. Pinball is very much a social event that often takes us back to simpler times. To play the silver ball takes more then memorizing a pattern and mashing buttons on a video game controller- you've got to use real world body English (just the right amount).
Pinball at the Zoo gave fans of all ages a chance to not only learn but play the history of pinball as collectors and vendors set up games from all eras for the 2 1/2 day show. Some brand new games make their Southwest Michigan debut at the show and many games are for sale if you want to take one home. There are annual tournaments tournaments and even an auction at the end of the day on Saturday. All this will have to wait until 2021, when the extra ball will be lit again.
