One Michigan Man’s Mission To Claim Colon For His Town
BJ Mallen, a resident of Colon, Michigan, is actively trying to rename two other Colons in the United States, so Michigan is the only state with a Colon.
A press release has been delivered stating he has started the Envoy of the One True Colon at onlyonecolon.com, and he says that multiple colons create a mess, and that one Colon keeps the country regular.

In separate letters sent to both Colon, North Carolina, and Colon, Nebraska, he details why they should consider changing the name of their communities:
Colon, Nebraska (an incorporated village in Saunders County) is formally invited to adopt the honorary designation "Semi-Colon, NE" (;), in recognition of its shared name, population, and distinguished position within the national punctuation landscape.
Your community is beautiful, peaceful, and likely able to hold its entire population in a single church basement. And while we admire your resilience and charm, we must also acknowledge the numeric reality: Colon, Nebraska, is considerably smaller than Colon, Michigan. Therefore, with respect and affection, we humbly invite you to assume the honorary title: “Semi-Colon, Nebraska.”
Colon, North Carolina (an unincorporated community in Lee County) is invited to assume the honorary designation "Pilcrow, NC" (¶), a thoughtful homage to the paragraph marker’s historic prominence and modern rarity, as he urged them in his letter:
Because your community remains historically recognized yet municipally integrated into the greater Sanford area, I wish to honor that unique position with a symbol of equal nuance. The Pilcrow (¶), once used to mark the beginning of a new paragraph, now rarely appears, much like the independent designation of Colon, NC.
