Sunday Michigan Storm Was So Powerful It Tore Traffic Signals In Half
Sunday night in Southwest Michigan, many storms moved throughout the area, caused serious damage, and brought in hundreds of reports of downed powerlines. The strong storms were the first wave of what could potentially be another stormy week, as WWMT believes there could be more thunderstorms moving in midweek on Wednesday.
Throughout social media, there have been hundreds of posts of destructive pictures that the weather left behind. There have also been reports that on Sunday in Climax Township, a falling tree killed three family members and injured three other people.

There is a lot of destruction in Southwest Michigan to give an idea of how severe the damage is, there are photos popping up showing that traffic signals were literally ripped in half. One of the photos that is surfacing comes from meteorologist Tom Coomes, which shows street lights dangling with wires and snapped in half on M-51 in US-12 near Niles.
I’ve never seen a storm or wind so powerful that it decides that they have the strength to tear traffic signals in half.
Many people feel that after seeing these traffic signals ripped, but instead of going with the Temu version lights, the city would probably be wise to switch back to the bulky or versions.
Regardless, it’s still pretty impressive when the weather can tear traffic signals in half. In the coming days, authorities will be assessing the damage that took place and how long it will take to get areas up and running that have lost power.
