Call it the grotesquerie of Grand River Avenue. Detroit's Motor City Casino was ranked the ugliest building in the state. The building's architectural nod to the city's car culture and the mid-Century feel it evokes must feel too hokey for Business Insider.

Ypsilanti Water Tower

You do have to wonder what they were thinking. Yes, it looks like what you think it looks like. Ypsi's water tower stands vigil over the center of town and the campus of Eastern Michigan University and just a few blocks from the original location of Domino's Pizza. The water tower stands on the highest point of elevation in the city.

909 Sheldon Road in Plymouth

The warehouse at 909 Sheldon Road in the tony Detroit suburb of Plymouth looks like any other somewhat nondescript building you'd find in Anytown USA. But this one raised the ire of Business Insider readers for some reason.

Cobo Hall - Detroit

Oh, they call it Cobo Center nowadays, but it will always be Cobo Hall to me. But the venerable Detroit venue lands at #4 in the ugliest buildings in Michigan. Cobo is the home to the annual North American International Auto Show.
