A staple business in Manistee is mourning the loss of a dear family member and a man whose legacy will continue to live on in the community, as the founder of Big Al's Pizza and Subs, Art Anderson has passed away. His family recently shared an update on the company's Facebook page:
It is with great sorrow, that we announce the passing of "Mr. A" Art Anderson. The man behind Big Al's Pizza and Subs. Alongside, his wife Wilma, they opened Big Al's in 1973 and it has been a staple in Manistee ever since. Please keep Wilma, Dave and the entire Anderson family in your thoughts at this time.

Sharing The Love
The company also asked those who knew Art or have gone to their establishment to share their memories:
We ask, that if anyone has any pictures over the years of Art to please share on this post. Whether it was at Big Als, him coaching baseball or softball, a fishing trip etc etc...we would love to share the memories of a great husband, father, grandpa, coach, businessman...most importantly, a great man!
Please share! Rest in Peace...we love and miss you already
Big Al's Beginnings
Big Al's, as mentioned before, was opened in 1973 but it's also Manistee's oldest and longest-running pizza place. For now, it seems like the business will continue to operate as usual while they try to move on from this loss. Already, the community has been sending the family an overabundance of support and sympathy, making the loss a little bit easier to manage.
