From Michigan, To D.C., Salem & New York, Here’s Mark Frankhouse’s Vacation Recap
When the alarm for work went off at 3 AM this morning it was actually just like clockwork. This was very surprising considering it’s been 2 1/2 weeks since I’ve had to come into the radio station to do the job I love. As much as I love doing this job, it’s absolutely important to step away from it all every once in a while and do something for yourself.
Recently, I took a vacation that lasted two weeks and I am here to tell you that it was absolutely necessary. The rest and relaxation I was able to get on this trip were completely invaluable. But it wasn’t the typical kind of rest and relaxation, because what I decided to do was take an entire road tour of the East Coast of the country.
That’s right I did over 4000 miles in two weeks starting in Washington DC then moving up to Gettysburg Pennsylvania, over to Philadelphia, and then into Salem, Massachusetts for the weekend.
I then started the next week working my way back home starting with Rochester, New York, and then cutting over to Niagara Falls before stopping in Chicago and ending the weekend back home in Kalamazoo.
There were so many things I learned on this history lesson of a vacation because that’s exactly what it was. Everywhere I went was packed with American history, and things I had never known before. Below is a massive photo gallery of where some of my journeys took me and some of the things that I learned about the areas I visited along the way.
There is a lot more to discuss about this trip that we will definitely talk about during the Morning Show, but below you can enjoy some of my travels, and feel free to call the station if you have any questions about any of these places. I highly suggest you try to visit all of these places at some point in your life, as they are truly moving.
